Beyblade - Metal Masters on DS is basically the closest you'll get to launching a spinning top at your friend's face without actually doing it. You start by picking or building your Beyblade—some have better attack stats, others are tanks, and I wasted way too much time tweaking mine before realizing I just needed to git gud.
The battles are fast and chaotic, with your metal beast clanging around the arena while you mash buttons for special moves. The AI gets surprisingly tricky later on, forcing you to actually think about timing and positioning instead of just spamming attacks. And yeah, the customization is deep enough that you'll catch yourself theorycrafting builds at 2 AM.
It's not perfect—the 3D models look a bit janky by today's standards—but the core gameplay nails that "one more match" energy of real Beyblade battles. Just don't blame me when you start absentmindedly humming the theme song.
