B.O.B. is one of those weird, underrated Genesis games that somehow slipped under the radar back in the day. You play as this lanky, wisecracking robot (complete with a sarcastic text bubble when he dies) stranded on a planet that really doesn’t want him there.

The first thing you’ll notice is how smooth the controls feel—B.O.B. slides, jumps, and shoots with this satisfying weight to him. The levels throw everything at you: lava pits, alien bugs, floating platforms that vanish if you hesitate too long. And the weapons? Ridiculous in the best way. You start with a pea shooter, but before long you’re bouncing grenades off walls or frying enemies with a flamethrower.

It’s got that classic ‘90s difficulty too—not unfair, but you’ll definitely retry a few sections. The soundtrack’s all crunchy synth beats that somehow make getting chased by giant robots way more intense. If you dig old-school platformers with attitude, this one’s still a blast.
