About Atomic Punk
I first played Atomic Punk on my Game Boy in the early 1990s. It was a Hudson Soft release, one of those many puzzle games that filled the portable's library. It didn't try to be a big adventure; it was just a clever little time-waster you could pick up between bus stops or during a car ride.
You control a character who must defuse bombs by clearing blocks from a single screen. Your main objective is to remove all the bomb parts before the timer runs out. The signature mechanics involve pushing blocks to create matches and clear them, while also avoiding enemies that roam the stage. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty ramps up quickly as the bombs get more complex and the screen gets more crowded. It feels like a tense race against a very visible clock.
