About Captain America And The Avengers
Captain America and The Avengers came out for the Game Boy in 1991, a Data East release that landed right in the thick of the handheld's early life. It was a time when you expected a certain kind of chunky, side scrolling action, and this game fit right into that library without much fuss.
You control either Captain America or Hawkeye, switching between them to punch and shoot your way through waves of Adaptoid robots. The main goal is to stop the Red Skull, moving screen by screen through city streets and enemy bases. Your character has a life bar, and you collect power ups to restore health or upgrade your weapon. The pacing is deliberate, almost methodical, as you deal with enemies that respawn when you leave a screen, which can make some sections feel like a grind. Playing it feels like a straightforward brawl where you have to be careful with your positioning and attacks.
