Man, this one takes me back. Al Unser Jr.'s Road to the Top is one of those mid-90s SNES racers that somehow feels both janky and weirdly charming. You've got your basic IndyCar circuits, a career mode where you work your way up from small-time races, and that classic SNES-era handling where the cars feel like they're sliding on butter half the time.
First thing you'll notice? The graphics are... well, they're very 1994. The tracks look flat, the cars are chunky sprites, and the crowd animations are basically just a blur of pixels. But there's something oddly satisfying about nailing a perfect turn on the oval tracks once you get used to the slippery physics. The career mode's got this old-school progression where you earn cash to upgrade your ride, and picking the right upgrades actually matters—dump everything into speed early and you'll be spinning out every other corner.
It's not gonna dethrone F-Zero or anything, but if you're into that specific era of racing games where everything felt a little rough around the edges, this one's a neat time capsule. Just don't expect modern polish.
