Age of Empires - Mythologies on the DS is basically the classic RTS boiled down to its most addictive bits—but with gods and monsters thrown in. You start with a handful of villagers, scramble to gather resources, and before long you're juggling upgrades, unit production, and some seriously busted myth units (looking at you, Egyptian scorpion men).
The touchscreen controls take some getting used to—you’ll probably mis-tap a few times before getting the hang of unit selection—but once it clicks, it’s weirdly satisfying to micromanage your army with the stylus. The three factions (Greek, Egyptian, Norse) actually feel distinct, too—Norse units hit hard but cost a fortune, while the Greeks are all about balanced, spammy armies. And yeah, the myth units are gloriously overpowered in the best way.
It’s not as deep as the PC games, but for a portable RTS that actually works? Surprisingly solid. Just don’t expect online play—this is strictly a solo or local multiplayer kind of deal.
