Ys III: Wanderers From Ys is where the series took a sharp turn—literally. Instead of the usual top-down view, you’re running and jumping through side-scrolling levels, which feels way more hands-on than the first two games. Adol finally gets a proper sword swing and a jump button, so combat’s less about bumping into enemies and more about timing your slashes.
It’s got that classic Falcom charm, though—the music slaps, and the difficulty spikes will keep you on your toes. Some fans missed the old style, but I liked the change of pace. Just don’t expect it to play like the others—this one’s all about platforming and quick reflexes.
