World of Illusion is one of those Genesis games that just oozes Disney charm—way more than you’d expect from a 16-bit platformer. You pick Mickey or Donald (or both, if you’ve got a buddy), and suddenly you’re pulling magic carpets out of thin air, shrinking down to mouse-size to crawl through books, and dodging sentient playing cards. The whole thing feels like stepping into a cartoon.
What’s cool is how different each character plays. Mickey’s got this smooth, floaty jump, while Donald… well, let’s just say he waddles more than he runs. The co-op mode actually changes the levels, too—you’ll ride giant leaves together or light each other’s torches in dark caves. First time I played it, I kept getting distracted by the little details, like how Donald’s hat bounces when he lands.
It’s short, sure, but every screen feels hand-painted, and the music’s weirdly hypnotic. Still holds up if you’re into that old-school Disney vibe.
