Whip Rush is one of those Genesis shooters that doesn't get enough love. You're piloting a slick little ship through some wild neon space levels, dodging bullet patterns that start simple but get absolutely brutal by stage 3. The power-up system's neat—grabbing different colored orbs changes your weapon type on the fly, so you're constantly adapting your strategy mid-fight.
First time I played, I got wrecked by the second boss because I stuck with the default spread shot too long. Turns out the homing lasers work way better against that floating fortress thing. The soundtrack's got that classic early 90s synth vibe too—kinda cheesy but in the best way possible. If you're into shmups with a bit of old-school challenge, this one's worth dusting off.
