Virtual Pool 64 nails that satisfying, weighty feel of real pool—the way the cue ball rolls just a little slower than you expect, how the spin actually behaves like it should. At first, I kept overshooting shots because I was used to arcadey pool games, but once it clicks, the physics feel weirdly good for an N64 title.
You’ve got all the usual game modes—8-ball, 9-ball, even trick shots—but the real fun is in the little details, like how you can adjust your stance or tweak the English on the ball with the analog stick. The tables look decent for the era, though the ball reflections are definitely a product of the late ‘90s. If you’re into methodical, skill-based games, this one holds up way better than most N64 sports titles.
Just don’t expect flashy commentary or gimmicks—it’s pure, no-nonsense pool, and that’s exactly why I keep coming back to it.
