Man, this Toy Story game on Sega Genesis takes me back. You start off as Woody, hopping around Andy’s room—avoiding toy cars, bouncing on bed springs, and trying not to get wrecked by RC’s wild driving. The first level’s all about that frantic escape from Sid’s house, and yeah, it’s way harder than kid-me remembered.
Buzz shows up later, and his jetpack sections feel clunky at first, but once you get the hang of it, gliding past Sid’s creepy mutant toys is weirdly satisfying. The pixel art still holds up, too—Mr. Potato Head’s weird little smirk when he throws his pieces at you is weirdly charming.
It’s definitely a product of its time—some of those jumps are brutal, and the hitboxes can be janky—but if you grew up with this or just love punishing old-school platformers, it’s got that weird, nostalgic pull. Just don’t throw your controller when you get stuck on the conveyor belt level.
