Tony Hawk’s Skateboarding on N64 is one of those games that just feels right—even if the graphics are a little blocky by today’s standards. You start off picking a skater (I always went with Tony, obviously) and then you’re dropped into these half-pipes and city parks where the only rule is "go big or go home." The controls take a second to click, but once they do, you’re pulling off kickflips, grinds, and ridiculous aerial spins like it’s nothing.
The levels are packed with ramps, rails, and hidden spots to trick off of, and the soundtrack? Absolute fire. It’s all punk and ska tracks that somehow make landing a 900 even more satisfying. Yeah, the framerate chugs sometimes, but who cares when you’re too busy trying to beat your own high score? This is the game that made skateboarding cool for a whole generation of kids—me included.
If you’ve got an N64 lying around, dust it off for this one.
