Alright, so The Smurfs on Sega Genesis is one of those weirdly charming platformers that shouldn’t work as well as it does. You start off bouncing around Smurf Village—everything’s bright, cartoony, and exactly how you’d imagine a 16-bit Smurfs world. The controls are floaty at first, but you get used to it after faceplanting into a few mushrooms.

Gargamel’s lurking around every corner, and his cat Azrael is somehow even more annoying here than in the cartoons. The levels mix basic platforming with some light puzzle stuff—like figuring out which Smurfberry bushes give you temporary powers (handy when you’re getting swarmed by spiders or whatever). It’s not super hard, but some jumps will absolutely make you mutter under your breath.

Honestly, it’s the vibe that sells it. The music’s cheerful, the sprites are tiny and adorable, and yeah, it’s pure nostalgia if you grew up with these little blue guys. Just don’t expect a hidden masterpiece—it’s a solid weekend time-killer with a lot of heart.
