Okay, so The Amazing Spider-Man on Game Boy is exactly what you'd expect—a little janky, but weirdly charming. You start off swinging between these tiny pixelated buildings, and yeah, the controls take a second to get used to (good luck not faceplanting into the first alleyway). But once you get the rhythm, zipping around New York actually feels pretty good for a handheld game from back then.
Fighting thugs is basic punch-and-web stuff, but the boss battles? That’s where it shines. You’ll recognize most of the villains—Electro’s a pain until you figure out his pattern, and don’t even get me started on Venom. There are some hidden power-ups if you crawl around enough, though half the time I just got lost in the maze-like levels. Still, for a portable Spidey fix, it’s got that classic comic book energy. Just don’t expect it to hold up like the console versions.
