So, Tamiya Racing 64 is this weird little prototype racing game for the N64 that never officially came out. You’re basically racing those tiny Tamiya model cars—you know, the ones you’d build as a kid—but blown up to full speed on some surprisingly detailed tracks.
At first, it feels a bit janky (it is a prototype), but once you get used to the physics, there’s something weirdly satisfying about how these little cars handle. They bounce around like they’re actually lightweight, and if you slam into a wall, they flip in a way that makes you wince. The customization’s pretty deep for an unfinished game—you can tweak gear ratios, tires, even downforce, which actually changes how the car feels.
Not gonna lie, some of the tracks are brutal, with tight corners and sudden jumps that’ll wreck you if you don’t brake early. But that’s part of the charm—it’s rough around the edges, but there’s a solid racer hiding in here. Definitely one for the N64 collectors who love digging up lost curiosities.
