Super Carlos World is one of those SNES platformers that nails the "easy to pick up, tough to master" vibe. You start off bouncing on mushrooms (the friendly kind) and dodging spike pits, but by world 3, you're timing jumps over lava while angry turtles kamikaze at you. The pixel art holds up—bright colors, goofy enemy designs, and Carlos himself has this weirdly satisfying floaty jump.
The music’s full of those chirpy 16-bit melodies that get stuck in your head, especially the underground theme. I died like six times on the ice level before realizing sliding into enemies actually works better than trying to stop. Classic SNES jank, but in a good way. If you’ve ever played any of the Mario All-Stars stuff, this feels like a lost cousin—same energy, just with more inexplicable llama power-ups.
It’s the kind of game where you’ll yell at the screen, then immediately hit continue because that one jump has to be possible. The later levels get brutal, but in that satisfying retro way where it’s your fault, not the game’s. Still holds up if you’ve got a soft spot for SNES-era platforming.
