Strider on NES is one of those games that looks way cooler than it actually is—at least at first glance. You play as Hiryu, this cyber-ninja dude with a ridiculous glowing sword, slicing through enemies in a futuristic dystopia. The first level throws you right into the action, jumping between platforms and cutting down robots like they're made of paper.
But here's the thing: the controls feel a little stiff, and some of the jumps are just unfair. You’ll probably die a few times before figuring out the timing. The music slaps, though—that synth-heavy soundtrack still holds up. And once you get the hang of the weird hitboxes, there’s something satisfying about mastering the chaos.
It’s not the smoothest NES game out there, but if you’re into retro action with a side of frustration, it’s got its moments.
