About Speedball 2
Speedball 2 came out on the Game Boy in 1992, developed by The Bitmap Brothers. It was a time when portable games were often simpler, scaled down versions of their home computer counterparts. This one tried to bring a complex, futuristic sport into your hands.
You control a team of players in a brutal, metallic arena. The main objective is to outscore the opposing team by throwing a steel ball into their goal. You can pass, tackle opponents, and collect coins that appear on the playing field to upgrade your team. The game scrolls smoothly, and the action is fast and punishing; a single mistake can lead to a quick goal against you. It feels like managing chaos, a frantic scramble for control that is both exhausting and satisfying.
