Rubble Saver (japan) Game

Okay, so Rubble Saver (or Star Saver in Japan) is this weird little Game Boy gem from Taito where you play as a tiny spaceship trying to, well, save stuff. At first glance it seems simple—just fly around shooting rocks and rescuing stranded astronauts—but there’s this oddly satisfying rhythm to it. The controls are tight, and dodging between falling debris while lining up shots feels way more tactical than it should.
What surprised me was how the game keeps throwing curveballs. One minute you’re clearing asteroids, the next you’re weaving through a maze of lasers or racing against a rising lava tide. The pixel art’s got that classic Taito charm too—crisp, colorful (for a Game Boy), and just detailed enough to make each stage feel distinct. It’s the kind of game where you’ll fail a level three times, then nail it on the fourth try and feel like a genius.
Also, that soundtrack? Weirdly catchy. I still hum the first stage theme sometimes.
