Quest 64 was one of those N64 RPGs that felt like a weird, charming experiment. You play as Brian, this kid with a staff and a knack for elemental magic—fire, water, earth, wind, the usual. The combat’s real-time, which was kinda rare back then, so you’re running around dodging attacks while charging up spells. It’s janky in that late-’90s way, but there’s something oddly satisfying about lining up a perfect wind blast to knock enemies off cliffs.
The world’s got that low-poly, foggy N64 vibe—lots of green fields, creepy forests, and towns that feel way bigger than they actually are. Magic leveling is neat, though; you pick which element to focus on, and your spells evolve based on how much you use them. (I went heavy on water early and regretted it when fire enemies showed up.)
It’s not the deepest RPG, but if you’re into that era’s rough-around-the-edges charm, it’s a fun little time capsule. Just don’t expect a sprawling epic—this is more like a weekend road trip with some magic and monsters.
