Pokémon Stadium 2 on the N64 is basically the ultimate flex for anyone who spent hours grinding their team on Game Boy. You can finally see your pixelated monsters in full 3D glory—Charizard’s flames actually look hot, and Pikachu’s cheeks spark like they mean it. The battles are still turn-based, but way more intense when you’re staring down a Hyper Beam in chunky N64 graphics.
What’s cool is you can plug in your Game Boy cartridges (if you’ve got the Transfer Pak) and throw your own Pokémon into the arena. My level 100 Feraligatr from Silver got wrecked by a friend’s Alakazam, so maybe don’t get too cocky. There’s also these ridiculous mini-games—like, who knew Lickitung could be so competitive at eating sushi?
It’s not just nostalgia, though. The AI actually puts up a fight, and figuring out type matchups feels way more satisfying when you’re not just mashing A through text boxes. Just don’t blame me when you lose to Lance’s Dragonite for the fifth time.
