Pokémon Snap is that weird, chill N64 game where you don’t battle or collect monsters—you just take pictures of them. You ride this little cart through different biomes, and Pokémon pop up doing their thing: a Pikachu riding a surfboard, a Charmander snoozing by lava, that kind of stuff. The goal? Get the best shots possible before the track runs out.
It sounds simple, but there’s a surprising amount of strategy. Some Pokémon only show up if you hit hidden switches or toss apples at them (yeah, really). And the scoring system is brutal—you’ll take what you think is an amazing shot, only for Professor Oak to give it like two stars because the Pokémon wasn’t centered or looking at the camera. Still, there’s something weirdly satisfying about nailing that perfect shot after a dozen tries.
It’s not for everyone—if you’re after battles or deep RPG mechanics, look elsewhere. But if you want a laid-back, almost meditative Pokémon experience, this one’s a gem. Just don’t be surprised when you start judging real-life photos like Oak does.
