Pokémon Snap on N64 is one of those weird, chill games that somehow makes taking pictures of digital creatures way more fun than it sounds. You ride this little cart through different zones—jungles, beaches, caves—and try to snap the best shots of Pokémon doing their thing. Pikachu chilling on a surfboard, Charizard breathing fire, that kind of stuff.
At first, I thought it’d be boring, but there’s actually a surprising amount of strategy. You’ve got apples to bait them, a weird flute thing to make them dance, and timing is everything. The better your photos, the more Professor Oak (yep, him) loses his mind with excitement. Graphics are obviously dated now, but there’s still something oddly satisfying about nailing that perfect shot.
If you ever wanted to be a Pokémon wildlife photographer instead of a trainer, this is your weirdly specific dream game.
