About Pokemon Snap (australia)
Pokemon Snap came out for the Nintendo 64 in 1999, developed and published by Nintendo. It was a different kind of game for the system, one that stood apart from the platformers and RPGs that were common at the time. Instead of battling, the entire game was built around taking pictures of Pokemon in their natural habitats.
You play as Todd Snap, a photographer riding on a fixed rail vehicle called the Zero One. Your goal is to travel through various courses and photograph wild Pokemon. You can't move freely; the vehicle moves on its own, so you have to work with the path you're given. The game gives you tools to interact with the environment, like throwing apples to get a Pokemon's attention or using a Pester Ball to startle them into a new pose. You also have to consider your shot composition, aiming for the Pokemon to be centered and close up to earn more points. The pacing is slow and deliberate, more about observation and timing than quick reflexes. It feels like a quiet, focused safari where a perfect shot is its own reward.
