Pokémon Puzzle League is that one N64 gem you probably forgot about—until you boot it up and suddenly lose three hours to matching colored blocks. It’s basically Tetris Attack with a Pokémon skin, but don’t let that fool you. The second you hear that jazzy anime-style intro music and see Pikachu grinning at you from the menu, you’re hooked.
Gameplay’s simple at first—line up three or more blocks to clear them—but the AI ramps up fast. Misty’s a pushover, but by the time you hit Gary’s levels, you’ll be sweating. The real magic’s in the 3D mode, where the playfield wraps around like a cylinder and your brain short-circuits trying to track combos. And yeah, multiplayer’s chaos, especially when someone sneaks in a garbage block avalanche.
It’s got that late-90s Pokémon charm, right down to the pixelated Charizard cutscenes. Just don’t blame me when the victory theme gets stuck in your head.
