Pit-Fighter on the Genesis was one of those early fighting games that felt rough around the edges but had this weird charm to it. The digitized sprites looked janky even back then—like someone filmed real people flailing around and pasted them into the game—but that kind of added to the appeal. You pick from three fighters (wrestler, ninja, or street brawler) and just wade through waves of enemies in this underground fight club vibe.
It’s not exactly deep—you’ve got a punch, a kick, and a jump that feels way too floaty—but there’s something satisfying about the sheer chaos of it. The crowd cheers, opponents ragdoll when you knock them out, and sometimes you’ll get a weapon like a chair or a bat for a few glorious seconds of mayhem. Definitely more of a button-masher than a technical fighter, but if you’re in the mood for something dumb and loud, it still holds up in a nostalgic way.
Just don’t expect Street Fighter-level precision.
