About Metro-cross (japan)
Metro Cross came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1985, a Namco title that fit right in with the platform's mix of arcade ports and quirky original ideas. It was a time when you could find just about any kind of game on the NES, and this one was definitely on the stranger side of the spectrum.
You control a runner navigating a constantly scrolling, multi-level track filled with obstacles like potholes, bumps, and rolling barrels. The main goal is simply to reach the finish line without falling too far behind or crashing. Your main actions are jumping over hazards and occasionally grabbing a skateboard that lets you plow through barriers for a short time. The screen moves relentlessly, and the track layout changes every time, forcing you to react quickly. It feels like a frantic race where a single mistimed jump can send you tumbling.
