Mega Man 64 is basically the Blue Bomber’s awkward but kinda charming first attempt at 3D. You’ve got the same run-and-gun action, but now you’re jumping around blocky environments, shooting robot dogs, and solving some surprisingly involved puzzles. The controls take a minute to get used to—this was early N64 days, after all—but once it clicks, blasting through levels with the Mega Buster feels solid.
It’s got that classic Mega Man vibe, just stretched into a weird, low-poly world. Some of the platforming can be janky, and the camera fights you sometimes, but there’s something endearing about it. If you grew up on the 2D games, this one’s a fun (if slightly rough) trip down memory lane.
