Lunar Legend on the GBA is one of those RPGs that just feels right—like slipping into a favorite pair of shoes. You start as Alex, this scrappy kid with a sword and way too much confidence, and within minutes you're dragged into a world where moon magic is real and everyone’s got an opinion about your destiny.
The pixel art still holds up—those little towns with their flickering lanterns, the way enemy sprites actually look threatening despite being tiny. Combat’s classic turn-based stuff, but there’s a rhythm to it once you figure out timing your special moves. (Pro tip: Don’t ignore buffs early on. I learned that the hard way.)
What stuck with me, though, are the characters. Nash’s terrible magic puns, Luna’s quiet stubbornness—they bicker like real friends. The story’s got that old-school charm where stakes feel huge but never drown out the small moments, like stealing melons for a side quest or listening to tavern gossip. If you’ve got a GBA still kicking around, this one’s worth dusting it off for.
