I first played Pac-Man World on the Game Boy Advance back when it was new. It was developed by Namco and published by the same company, arriving on a handheld already crowded with platformers. This was a time when classic characters were getting 3D console adventures, but the GBA version offered a scaled down, side scrolling take. It felt like a natural fit for the system's library.

You control Pac-Man through a series of themed worlds, each split into individual levels. The main goal is straightforward: reach the exit. Along the way, you run, jump, and use a butt bounce to defeat most enemies. Two key mechanics stand out. You can collect fruit for points and sometimes extra lives, and you also hunt for special tokens to unlock bonus stages. The pacing is brisk, with levels that demand quick reflexes for jumps and enemy patterns. Some later stages ramp up the difficulty with precise platforming over bottomless pits. It feels like a solid, responsive platformer that captures the spirit of the original arcade game in a new format.
