So Lost Vikings is this weird little gem on the Sega Genesis where you control three kidnapped vikings—Olaf with his shield, Baleog with his sword, and Erik the speedy one—trying to escape an alien spaceship. The catch? You gotta switch between all three to solve puzzles, since each has their own dumb little skill (Olaf’s shield blocks stuff, Erik can jump gaps, etc.).
First time I played, I kept forgetting who did what and accidentally yeeted Erik into spikes like three times. The levels start simple but get devious fast—some of those later puzzles feel like the aliens are just messing with you. Also, the dialogue’s surprisingly funny for a 16-bit game. Baleog’s constant grumbling about being hungry never gets old.
It’s one of those games where failing is half the fun, mostly because the vikings yell at each other when you mess up.
