Live A Live is one of those weird, brilliant SNES RPGs that never made it outside Japan—until the recent remake, anyway. You jump between totally different protagonists across time periods, like a caveman figuring out fire or a ninja sneaking through a fortress. Each chapter feels like its own little game, with unique mechanics—the robot’s section plays like a stealth puzzle, while the cowboy’s is basically a spaghetti western.
Combat’s turn-based but on a grid, so positioning matters. Some characters feel overpowered (looking at you, kung fu master), others take finesse. The way the stories eventually connect is wild, but no spoilers. Just know it’s classic Squaresoft strangeness with pixel art that still holds up.
