Alright, so Legend of Galahad on the Sega Genesis is one of those hidden gems that somehow slipped under the radar back in the day. You play as Galahad—y’know, the knight who wasn’t quite as famous as Lancelot but still got stuff done—and you’re basically hacking and slashing your way through a medieval fantasy world full of dragons, wizards, and suspiciously well-placed bottomless pits.

The first thing you’ll notice? The sprite work is surprisingly detailed for a Genesis game—Galahad’s armor actually gleams when he moves. But don’t get too comfortable staring at the scenery, because enemies come at you fast. Swords feel weighty, and landing a hit has this satisfying *clang* that makes combat feel meaty. There’s some light platforming too, but nothing as brutal as, say, Ghosts ’n Goblins.

What I love is how the game mixes things up—one minute you’re fighting skeletons in a crypt, the next you’re dodging fireballs from a sorcerer on a floating platform. And yeah, it’s tough, but in that old-school way where you actually learn patterns instead of just button-mashing. If you’ve got a soft spot for 16-bit action games with a fantasy twist, this one’s worth dusting off the Genesis for.
