Lawnmower Man on the Sega Genesis is... weird, in the best way possible. You play as this guy who’s basically half-lawnmower, half-human, and you’re tearing through these surreal digital landscapes—some look like grids straight out of Tron, others are just bizarre obstacle courses. At first, I thought it’d be some simple mowing sim, but nah, you’re dodging lasers, jumping gaps, and solving weird little puzzles while your mower blades hum in the background.
The controls take a second to click—you’ve got this weird floaty jump that feels off until you realize it’s intentional, like you’re glitching through the levels. And the music? Super early '90s synth, all bleeps and bloops that somehow fit the trippy vibe. It’s not the hardest game out there, but some of those later levels get seriously chaotic, like the devs just threw in everything they could think of.
If you’re into retro games that don’t take themselves too seriously, this one’s a blast. Just don’t expect it to make much sense.
