Kirby’s Block Ball is one of those weird little Game Boy gems that shouldn’t work but totally does. Instead of floating around inhaling enemies, Kirby is the ball in a Breakout-style game—which sounds ridiculous until you see him bouncing off paddles, squishing into walls, and occasionally puffing up to wreck entire rows of blocks. The first few levels trick you into thinking it’s simple, but then the stage layouts get sneaky, enemies start throwing curveballs, and suddenly you’re frantically angling Kirby to snag a power-up before it vanishes.
What’s cool is how it still feels like a Kirby game—the music’s bouncy, the enemies are familiar (Waddle Dees make surprisingly good bumpers), and there’s even copy abilities if you smash the right blocks. My first time grabbing the Fire power, I accidentally bounced Kirby straight into a pit, which… yeah, classic Kirby. It’s short but satisfying, especially if you’re into high-score chasing. Just don’t blame me when you mutter “one more try” at 2 AM.
