King Of Fighters ’98 Game

Man, King of Fighters '98 on the Genesis still hits hard. The second you boot it up, you’re hit with that classic SNK pixel art—terry’s cap bounces like it’s got a life of its own, and Iori’s flames look ridiculous (in the best way). The controls are tight, but don’t expect modern inputs—some of those special moves take real commitment to pull off.
What’s wild is how much personality each fighter has, even on 16-bit hardware. Kyo’s combos flow like butter if you time them right, but good luck landing Mai’s fan throws against someone who knows what they’re doing. And that roster? 38 characters, including some weirdos you’d totally forget about until they wreck you with a random super.
Best part? Couch multiplayer. Nothing beats the chaos of two people button-mashing while a third yells “THAT’S NOT HOW YOU DO THE DM.” Just don’t blame me when you lose an hour trying to master Joe’s hurricane kick. Still one of the best ports of the Neo Geo era.
