So, Jack No Daibouken is this weird little Game Boy Color RPG that never made it outside Japan. You play as Jack, a kid who can control earth, fire, wind, and water magic while searching for his missing dad. The combat’s kinda neat—you pick an element before each fight, and your spells change depending on what you chose. Earth gives you rock throws, fire does burn damage, that sort of thing.
It’s basically a stripped-down version of Quest 64, but in 2D. The dungeons are simple, the story’s barebones, and the translation is… well, it’s Japanese-only, so good luck if you don’t know the language. Still, there’s something charming about how straightforward it is—no grinding for hours, no convoluted systems. Just pick an element and smack some monsters.
If you’re into obscure JRPGs or just want to see what Quest 64 might’ve been like on a handheld, it’s a fun curiosity.
