Indora No Hikari (japan) Game

Indora No Hikari is one of those hidden Famicom RPGs that never made it West—which is a shame, because it’s got this weirdly charming mix of classic turn-based combat and a world that feels bigger than it should for an 8-bit game. You start off picking from three classes (I went with the warrior first, but the mage’s spells get ridiculous later), and right away, the overworld map has these little details that make exploration actually fun, like hidden caves and towns with their own quirks.
The combat’s straightforward—no fancy gimmicks, just solid menu-based battles—but the enemy designs are surprisingly memorable. There’s this one recurring armored knight who shows up way too early and wrecks you if you’re not careful. And yeah, it’s all in Japanese, but if you’ve played enough old-school RPGs, you can muddle through with trial and error. The music’s also a standout, with these upbeat dungeon themes that stick in your head.
It’s not perfect—the grinding can drag a bit—but for a Kemco deep cut, it’s way more interesting than most of their later stuff. Definitely a cool find if you’re into retro JRPGs.
