Iggy-kun No Bura Bura Poyon is one of those weirdly charming N64 platformers that never left Japan—which is a shame, because it’s got this goofy energy that just works. You play as this little round dude (Iggy, I guess?) who bounces around levels like a rubber ball, smashing into enemies and ricocheting off walls. The controls take a minute to get used to—you’re not just running and jumping, you’re building momentum like some kind of pinball-meets-platformer hybrid.
The levels are bright, almost toy-like, with these floating islands and spinning gears everywhere. At first, I kept overshooting jumps because I didn’t realize how much speed carried over from rolling downhill. There’s something satisfying about nailing a chain of bounces off enemies to reach a high-up platform, though. Not gonna lie, the camera fights you sometimes, but that’s just N64 nostalgia at this point.
If you’re into obscure platformers or just want something that feels different from the usual Mario clones, this one’s worth digging up. It’s short, weird, and has way more personality than it gets credit for.
