So, Home Alone on the Genesis—yeah, that one. It’s exactly what you’d expect: a pixelated Kevin McCallister running around his house, setting up traps, and dodging the Wet Bandits. The controls are a little stiff (classic 16-bit platformer vibes), but there’s something weirdly satisfying about dropping paint cans on Harry and Marv’s heads.

You start off in the house, scrambling to pick up stuff like toy cars and BB guns—basically anything not nailed down—to turn into weapons. The music’s got that frantic holiday chase energy, and the sprite work is surprisingly detailed for a movie tie-in. Not gonna lie, the first time I played, I got wrecked by those burglars because I didn’t realize you could only set traps in certain spots. Trial and error, I guess.

It’s not the deepest game, but if you grew up with the movie, it’s a nostalgia trip with just enough chaos to keep you entertained for an afternoon. Just don’t expect it to hold up like some of the Genesis greats.
