GT 64 - Championship Edition is one of those N64 racers that doesn’t get enough love. Yeah, it’s not as flashy as F-Zero or Mario Kart, but there’s something satisfying about the way the cars handle—weighty, but not sluggish. You start off picking from a handful of rides, tweaking their stats, and then it’s straight into races where the weather actually messes with your grip. Rain turns the track into a slip-and-slide nightmare, which sounds annoying but weirdly makes it more fun.
The tracks aren’t just loops—they’ve got elevation changes, tight corners, and some surprisingly good scenery for an N64 game. And the customization? It’s basic by today’s standards, but back then, being able to adjust gear ratios and downforce felt like wizardry. Just don’t expect Gran Turismo levels of depth.
It’s got that late-’90s racing charm—rough around the edges, but full of personality. If you dig arcade-style racers with a hint of sim, this one’s worth a spin.
