About Front Line
Front Line came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1982, published by Taito Corporation. It was one of the earlier titles on the system, a straightforward arcade-style game that felt right at home on the console.
You control a single soldier running from the bottom of the screen toward the top. Your goal is to fight through enemy infantry and tanks to reach their fort and destroy it with a grenade. You start with a pistol and unlimited grenades, switching between them as needed. The game progresses screen by screen; you clear one area of foot soldiers before a tank battle begins, where you can commandeer light or heavy tanks to fight enemy armor. The pacing is relentless, with enemies swarming from all sides, and the difficulty ramps up quickly in later stages. It feels like a constant, frantic push against an overwhelming force.
