Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls is basically the GBA love letter to the classics. You get both games packed into one cart, but they’re not just straight ports—they’ve been tweaked with better visuals, smoother mechanics, and some extra dungeons that weren’t in the originals. The first one’s your classic "pick four jobs and pray" adventure, while II goes for that weird leveling system where getting hit makes you tougher (which, honestly, still feels weird but kinda cool).
What’s neat is how they’ve made the grind less brutal—I remember the NES versions being punishing, but here you can actually enjoy the story without wanting to throw your GBA across the room. The new dungeons are a nice touch too, especially if you’ve played these before and want something fresh. It’s not a full remake, but it’s the best way to play these two if you’re into old-school JRPGs.
