F1 Racing Championship on N64 is one of those games that nails the feel of early Formula 1 racing—if you can handle the jank. The tracks are surprisingly accurate for a late-90s racer, and the cars actually handle differently depending on their stats. Took me a few races to stop spinning out at Monaco, but once you get the hang of it, threading those tight corners feels amazing.
What really sets it apart is the weather system. One minute you're cruising on dry asphalt, the next you're hydroplaning through a downpour with zero visibility. The AI isn't exactly brilliant, but they do react to conditions—watch them pit for wets while you stubbornly stay on slicks and immediately regret it.
It's not the prettiest racer on the N64, but the sense of speed holds up. Just don't expect Gran Turismo-level realism—this is arcade-style F1 with just enough simulation elements to keep it interesting. That screechy engine sound when you redline stays with you.
