Digimon 2 on Game Boy Color is basically the sequel that doubles down on everything that made the first one weirdly addictive. You start off picking your rookie Digimon—I always went with Agumon because, well, fire-breathing dinosaur—and then it’s this weird mix of raising a pet and grinding RPG battles. The pixel art still holds up, especially when your Digimon finally digivolves after what feels like forever.

It’s got that classic Digimon vibe where you’re constantly balancing training, feeding, and scolding them (yes, really) to keep them from turning into some messed-up blob monster. The battles are simple but satisfying, especially when you finally unlock that one overpowered Mega form. And yeah, it’s janky in that late-90s handheld way—expect a lot of random encounters and cryptic evolution requirements.

If you played the original, this is more of that, just with a few extra Digimon and slightly less confusing menus. Still weirdly charming though.
