Dexanoid is basically Breakout on steroids for the N64. You’ve got the usual paddle-and-ball setup, but then it throws in these wild power-ups—some make your ball split into three, others turn it into a fireball that blasts through bricks. The first few levels trick you into thinking it’s easy, then suddenly the screen’s full of moving blocks and weird obstacles.
The graphics are surprisingly crisp for an N64 game, with these neon-colored bricks that shatter in satisfying little explosions. My only gripe? The paddle controls take a minute to get used to—it’s a bit floaty at first. Once it clicks though, you’ll be ricocheting that ball off walls like a pro.
If you’ve ever lost hours to Arkanoid or just love smashing stuff in creative ways, this one’s a solid time-waster.
