Densha De Go! 64 is one of those weirdly satisfying train sims where you actually have to pay attention—like, really pay attention. At first glance, it seems simple: drive a train, hit the brakes on time, don’t crash. But then you realize you’re juggling speed limits, station stops, and passenger comfort (yes, that’s a thing) while trying not to derail or overshoot platforms.
The controls take a minute to get used to—you’ve got acceleration, braking, and even a horn, all mapped to the N64’s awkward controller. But once it clicks, there’s something weirdly zen about nailing a perfect stop or squeezing through tight schedules. The graphics are blocky as hell by today’s standards, but the trains and stations have this nostalgic charm, especially if you’ve got a soft spot for Japanese railways.
It’s definitely niche, but if you’ve ever wanted to know what it’s like to pilot a commuter train without the real-world consequences, this is your chance. Just don’t expect any Mario Kart shortcuts.
