Alright, so Bugs Bunny in Double Trouble is one of those Sega Genesis games that feels like a Saturday morning cartoon—if that cartoon occasionally kicked your butt. You hop around as Bugs, dodging Elmer Fudd’s ridiculous traps and trying not to get blasted by Yosemite Sam’s endless supply of bullets. The levels are full of little gags, like falling anvils and trick doors, which is fun until you realize you just walked into one for the third time in a row.
The controls take a second to get used to—Bugs slides around a bit, and some jumps feel way more precise than they should be. But once you get the hang of it, there’s something satisfying about outsmarting the AI with Bugs’ signature brand of chaos. The music’s got that classic Looney Tunes bounce, and the pixel art holds up surprisingly well for a 16-bit era game.
It’s not the hardest platformer out there, but don’t expect a cakewalk either. Some of those later levels? Yeah, good luck. Still, if you grew up on these characters, it’s hard not to smile when Daffy shows up just to mess with you. Just keep an eye out for those hidden carrots—you’ll need ‘em.
