About Bomberman (japan)
I first played Bomberman GB on my Game Boy in 1994, a release from Hudson Soft. It was one of many puzzle-action games on the system, a portable version of a familiar formula that fit right into the handheld library of the time.
You control Bomberman, navigating him through single-screen maze stages. Your main goal is to defeat all the enemies in each area by placing bombs that explode in a cross-shaped pattern. You break soft blocks to uncover power-ups, which can increase your bomb blast radius, the number of bombs you can place at once, or your movement speed. The game progresses screen by screen, and the pacing is methodical; you have to think about your placement and timing to avoid getting caught in your own explosions or cornered by enemies. It feels tense and satisfying when a well-planned chain of explosions clears the stage.
