Big Nose Freaks Out is one of those weird, janky NES platformers that somehow sticks with you. You play as a caveman (with, yes, a very prominent nose) who’s out to reclaim his stolen bones from a thieving dinosaur. The whole thing feels like someone mashed together Super Mario Bros. and The Flintstones—you’re jumping across floating platforms, whacking enemies with a club, and occasionally hopping on a stone skateboard (because why not?).
It’s got that classic NES charm—bright colors, simple controls, and a surprising amount of secrets tucked away. The two-player mode is chaotic in the best way, and some of the hidden levels are just bizarre (in a good way). Not gonna lie, the physics feel a little off at first, but once you get the hang of it, there’s something oddly satisfying about bonking dinosaurs and collecting bones like some kind of prehistoric treasure hunter.
Definitely a niche pick, but if you’re into retro platformers with personality, this one’s worth a spin.
