Man, AeroGauge is one of those N64 racers that feels like it got lost in the shuffle—which is a shame because those hovercraft handle way differently than your typical kart or F-Zero clone. First thing you’ll notice? The controls are slippery as heck until you get used to drifting around corners like you’re on ice. Took me a few crashes to stop treating it like Mario Kart.
The tracks twist upside down, loop-de-loop, and generally don’t care about gravity, which is cool until you realize half the challenge is just not flying off into space. Customizing your ride helps a little—swap out stabilizers or boosters if you keep spinning out—but honestly, I just picked the one that looked like a stealth bomber and embraced the chaos.
It’s janky in that late-’90s 3D way, but there’s something weirdly satisfying about nailing a corkscrew turn without faceplanting into a wall.
